Stellantis Is Launching A Slew Of New Gas Cars This Year, And Other Promises
Stellantis and its dealers have not exactly had the best relationship over the past few years. High prices, extraneous brands, missing product, and a host of other issues have made things stressful between the two sides. But now that former CEO Carlos Tavares is gone, the new management at the company wants to mend fences. At the National Automobile Dealers Association conference in New Orleans this week, the company shared its plan going forward. A plan that means gas Chargers by summer, gas/electric Ramchargers a little before that, and more spending on things that get customers in the door.
Ram
The ‘Ram’ moniker used to represent certain models within the Dodge stable, but in 2010, Ram Trucks was founded as a spin-off brand on its own. Now a division of Stellantis, Ram produces a range of light to heavy-duty pickup trucks and commercial vehicles, including the Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks, and the Promaster van models. In 2024/2025 news, the Ram 1500 pickup won the CarBuzz Award for Best Truck of the Year.

Jeep
Jeep is an off-road SUV brand with roots dating back to World War II when off-roaders were known as jeeps (from GP or General Purpose vehicles). Willys-Overland Motors took the concept mainstream by launching versions for the public to buy, and the brand has built a reputation of being te purest off-road-focused brand ever since. Iconic models like the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have been staples in the lineup, and the brand currently lays claim to having the best-selling plug-in hybrid in America, the Wrangler 4xe.

Antonio Filosa
“We are fully committed to strengthening our partnerships with dealers, and that begins with a renewed focus on collaboration,” said Antonio Filosa, North America chief operating officer. “Our new approach is centered on removing unnecessary limits for our dealers and ensuring we are aligned and able to succeed together in a competitive market.”
Execs Know They Need To Get Back Dealer Trust
Head of Sales Jeff Kommor said, “Following a challenging 2024, we told dealers – directly – that we will be consistent and focus on gaining their trust, especially when it comes to our products, our pricing, and our incentives. We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response based on these promises and commitments, and we have confidence that 2025 is going to be a great year for the company and dealers alike.”

Jeep Identifies The One Ingredient It Needs To Succeed
With a revised, more affordable product line and new models, Jeep is giving customers the true Jeep experience with a focus on capability and fun.
The plan starts with more ads. The automaker will be buying commercials at rates it hasn’t seen since 2019, including new Super Bowl ads for both Jeep and Ram. The brands used to go all-out on spots for the game with stars including Bruce Springsteen, Shaggy, and others, before bowing out last year. It will also be giving dealers more aggressive incentives, the company said.
Of course, it will need new vehicles to advertise and sell, and there are plans for what the automaker calls “significant expansion” in its lineup.
New Models Will Remain The Key To Growth And Success
The gas-powered Dodge Charger models will follow the electric models already on sale and will be in stores by this summer. The gas four-door Charger will get versions of the Hurricane 3.0-liter inline-six with 420 horsepower or 550 hp.
Ram will get “more affordable trims” of the 1500 pickup, which has been fighting the death of the entry-level Ram Classic. The current Ram 1500 starts at just above $40,000, but jumping up one trim adds $5,000 to that and going to the second model up is suddenly $55,000. The range-extended Ramcharger model is also expected mid-year, offering pickup buyers what Ram hopes will be a better solution than a full EV.

Ram needs a small truck, and fast.
Jeep plans three “all-new nameplates” with three different powertrains. A gas model, a hybrid, and an EV. We believe one will be the Jeep Recon, an electric Wrangler counterpart. One will likely be a replacement for the Cherokee model, and the third is one we’re still not sure about.
After a 15 percent sales decline in 2024, Stellantis brands need a boost. The company appears to be ready to give it one, and while more ads and more products are a good start, convincing dealers to be part of the effort instead of just getting by is crucial.
